becaues of https://www.eugdpr.org/ customer's data must be protected. There is a big debate whether encryption is needed or not.

Anyone got any experience or idea how to encrypt data that X2 is using, saving? I am going to use linux.

Thank you

Cimenta raises a valid point and it's an even bigger issue than just the encryption part. Is X2 taking steps to ensure EU GDPR compliance?

With clients in the EU and non-EU clients doing business with EU customers, this is no small matter. With the new law going into effect on May 25, 2018, compliance requirements are just around the corner. If they are not met, X2 clients will risk running afoul of EU law or look for other solutions.

In my home option the GDRP is not (mainly) related to encryption, but to privacy and transparancy.

Encryption is suitable, but not needed for EU privacy - in fact, you should think about SSL for transport and db-level encryption
