Thomas 0
Hi, I appreciate the work you’re doing but with the last releases work got a lot more difficult because of difficult bugs. Right now I’am facing a message saying “Put the logo back in” and the application shuts off immediately. And no, I did not remove any logo in the present or past nor do I have another installment runining anywhere. I used a fresh 1.2.2 install on two differnet machines with the same result. Greetings, Thomas
Thomas 0
I checked with a local installation and it is running fine. We tested the 1.01 relasae very heavily and experimented a lot with custom layout and stuff, but decieded to install a fresh version as soon as the login / remeber issue was solved. We never intentioned to remove the logo. How do I fix this?
Guest
Hi Thomas, So I'd like to help you get this resolved quickly so you can get back up and running with the app. The first thing I'd like you to do is load up the app on the page where you have the issue. When you do that it will alert the message about the logo. Close it, and then hit the "Escape" key as soon as it attempts to redirect. This should let you stay on the page. At that point, if you could take a screenshot and post it here I would be more able to help figure out what's going wrong with the app and attempt to fix it. Guest X2Matthew
Hi, sorry about that error. You definitely shouldn't be seeing it! There is some code on each page which checks for the logo images, to make it a little more difficult to rip off our code without giving any credit. It checks for the image tags as well as the md5 hash of the files. Could you try clearing out your assets folder? (something like public_html/x2engine/assets...just delete everything in there). Yii may be using an old version of the image, with the new set of md5 hashes.
SapporoGuy 8
But isn't x2 BSD?If somebody is going to fork / sell the x2 code they'll pull that out anyways because if I'm not mistaken the design is not under BSD or even GPL protection but rather your copyright. Guest X2Matthew
We are new BSD licensed. Even if we were using GPL people could still rip off our code without any attribution. The logo checks are there to make it more difficult for non-developers to avoid giving us attribution.
SapporoGuy 8
You mean you are using the 3 clause BSD or are new to using The BSD license? I think using the BSD over the GPL is a good choice.
Guest X2Matthew
The 3 clause BSD license.
